Casting Out the Self was commissioned for Brighton Digital Festival in partnership with the British Science Festival from a proposal by artist Dominic Hawgood.

The piece shown at the festival was one iteration of an ongoing project is inspired by the artist’s experiences with the hallucinogenic drug Dimethyltrptamine (DMT). The work uses technology to explore the artist’s interest in states of mind and sensations.
